SAMSUNG Biologics

BBC Storyworks asked us to direct, design and animate Samsung Biologics’ vision to reduce carbon emissions across their entire production cycle and reach net zero.

We took BBC Storywork’s script and just started blocking out scenes with short text descriptions. It’s a really fast way to get a feel for timing and content. Then we started creating simple sketches to explore what those scenes could look like.

Once we had approval on our storyboard, we started to develop our design. We always need to keep in mind whether a particular style will work in motion. Since we’re able to produce 2D and 3D assets in-house, we had a lot of freedom with our design and were confident that we could get things animated without compromising the design.

Supply chains are all interconnected, and we wanted to echo this dynamic in our animation by using smooth transitions to compliment our flowing design.

We pushed After Effects to uncomfortable places at times. But it really helped us to create some key 3D assets while allowing us more control over the textures. That way we could stay true to the art direction.
